Mind of a Disgruntled Petless Person

I am starting to suffer from my lack of pet. I don't know why. I didn't have one all through college except fish. However, it really seems to both me that I didn't have one. I know why we can't have Scout here, and I wouldn't want him here because he'd be miserable. Really I thought I was holding up okay until Saturday. Saturday we were outside of Home Depot next to a PetSmart when Chris announced the following. "I want a ferret" I had never thought of a ferret. So we went to Home Depot and did our thing.

Then as Chris is advocating the joys of ferret ownership (they're smart, they're active, they like to cuddle as they calm down) I started thinking about it. Ferrets live in cages, our lease doesn't say anything about animals who live in cages, ect. So we go to PetSmart and are examining their wide selection of ferret cages, food, toys ect. There is only one problem-no ferrets. So we ask one of the workers. "Oh ferrets are illegal in CA but you can buy one online" Considering the contradiction of supplies, and her own statement of advocating illegal pet ownership we thought she was just dumb (I'm sorry oh petsmart worker wherever you are) so we go to the other petsmart across town to get the real story because the SPCA works there. We ask the SPCA "Ferrets are illegal in CA we ship them to Arizona if we find any" Indeed it is true, ferrets are illegal in CA. Painfully my pet dream has died. It was too late though because darn it now I want a ferret. I got a book on them and they sound like a lot of fun.

Work continues to go well. I finally got direct deposit. That's pretty much the bright side of my continued Fresno existence. I might get to go to a Buddhist temple in Fresno to discuss the poetry of Rengetsu. Who I know is famous but despite my most sincere wishes I don't think I can translate her poetry the way Robin's friend wants me too. But I might still get to go for trying so I'm all on board.

Sarah Connor Chronicles under cut

Still love my show. I've changed my mind about John's haircut, it does make him look older. He's still being the stupid teenager though. I think I could do with a little less John in my Sarah Connor Chronicles. A sentiment I am echoing.

Cameron continues to be my favorite character because I love her complexity. I really hope the T-100(0?) morpha woman doesn't get her. I think that's what Skynet is looking for. Speaking of skynet Cameron being so afraid and begging for her life? yeah, that's got me thinking about how much John can trust Cameron. She seems off, and she seems interested in self preservation. And thank goodness she didn't like John's attempt at a girlfriend.

Creepy robot guardian. I kept waiting for Cameron to come up and kick her out or something. Or for John to say something sarcastic about how he already had one. Ah well.

Not so much love for the second episode as for ones that were earlier.

As for House I have just one thing to say: Wilson. NOOOOOOOO.

I think it's neat that you live in Fresno. That's where my boyfriend's uncle and his family live :)

Fresno has its good and bad elements. The Navy fly overs at 7:00 on my Fridays off are bad. The fact that there's a Starbucks nearly everywhere? Good.

I watched the first episode of SCC, but not the next episode yet. WOW. I love this show so much.

My friend in Alaska had a ferret...they're cute and nice enough, but they definitely smell bad. That's weird that they're 100% illegal in CA...I wonder why? California has so many strange laws that are uniquely their own...it really is like its own country.

The second episode isn't as good as the first, but it's still good. I'm looking forward to more of a progression this season. I miss the voice overs though. While I agree that it some ways they're cheating story wise, I liked them.

Ferrets are classified as wildlife in CA. Which is crazy because there are only wild Ferrets in South Dakota and those are dying. Not the same type of ferret. So I don't know. Apparently the Sierra club is terrified that they'll get lose and reak havoc on the CA environment (factually ferrets can't survive in the CA wilderness and 98% of ferrets are spayed and neutered)

I can appreciate the concern of introduced species messing up ecosystems...still seems a little odd to me.

I loved the voice overs from last season because they were such a great reference/homage to the movies, particularly T2. That movie also used Sarah Conner voice overs explaining stuff.
