Okay everyone. We knew it was coming. The post on the Kentucky Derby is bellow. For now what the hat says and what I want the order of finish to be. My actual belief concerning the finish should come later this afternoon. The favorite I Want Revenge was scratched this morning due to heat in his right front hoof. So you will be seeing a 19 horse field.

19 Pioneer of the Nile

What I Want To Happen

1. Pioneer of the Nile
2. Fresian Fire
3. Dunkirk
4. Flying Private
5. Papa Clem

What I think Will Happen

1. Dunkirk
2. Fresian Fire
3. Flying Private
4. Pioneer of the Nile

My problem with Pioneer of the Nile is the mud. The track is sloppy and he's never even run on dirt. Just synthetic surfaces. So I think it depends on how he breaks. Because he has to settle. If he settles and doesn't mind getting a little dirty then I think this race will go okay.

They (ESPN) just showed Eight Belles breakdown before the new Eight Belles Stakes. I feel sick that they're still showing it. It's fine to talk about it because it created new safety precautions for the horses, and improvements in track conditions. However, to talk about safety in horse racing does not require that we show a beautiful filly who ran her heart out falling onto the track in agony. I just hate that they keep showing that footage. I don't want to see it. And I know they're doing it for shock value. God Eight Belles was pretty.

It was a good race. With a very unexpected finish, which for the Derby is really no surprise. I don't know, the horse I wanted to win came in second. Everyone else I thought would do well finished well out of the money. I like Bob Baffert's after race comment which was that the "Cowboys brought a better horse." We shall see who goes on to run in the Preakness.
